We provide a full range of Physics and Dosimetry related services related to Radiation Oncology.
They include:
P&CP will send a team of qualified expert physicists to thoroughly test and measure your accelerator. We will work closely with your physicist and medical staff to ensure they have all of the data and documentation required to properly treat the patients.
The acceptance testing and commissioning of a conventional linear accelerator is a rigorous and time consuming process. Done by a single site physicist, it may take several weeks or months to properly accept and characterize a machine to be used for human treatments. In addition, this data must be entered into the treatment planning system and modeled to ensure that the computer program generates accurate results, reflecting what is ultimately used to treat patients.
The use of manufacturer-supplied data to characterize machines has led some to truncate the collection of the normal data set during commissioning. Although the manufacturer’s data may be suitable, you are still obligated to make measurements to verify its match to your particular machine. Be sure to read the fine print in your acceptance document, as the institution is responsible for the data and its use. Why not take this one-time opportunity to protect yourself and your patients? You can then assure everyone of the best possible outcome. We have seen no case in our considerable experience that the manufacturer-supplied model could not be improved upon to match a specific machine.
We perform measurements and modeling for conventional therapy in as little as 100 hours. We take no shortcuts. Rather, our team works in shifts “around the clock”, utilizing the most advanced data collection equipment available to accurately measure and characterize your radiation therapy accelerator.
In the current environment of increasing technology costs and reimbursement pressures, any delays in bringing an accelerator on-line can be costly. During installation, scheduling delays, and changes are common. We can easily work with a client in adjusting our schedule to meet yours. Remember - our physicists work for us. We do not take time from our regular employment to “pick up some spare change on the weekend”. We own our own equipment and do not have to make arrangements to borrow from someone else. We own four full 3-D capable scanners and 2 smaller units. This constitutes resources far in excess of what other services can offer.
